Wife who allegedly stabbed husband to death charged with murder

The police said they have secured a two-week remand order against the wife, Maryam.
The Federal Capital Territory Police command have filed criminal charges against Maryam Sanda who allegedly killed her husband last Saturday, November 18, 2017.
Sanda was said to have stabbed her husband, Bilyamin Bello to death.
The deceased, who was a real estate developer, was the son of a former Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Haliru Bello .
In a statement issued by the police on Wednesday, November 22, the command’s spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah said they have secured a two-week remand order against Maryam.
Manzah added that it was difficult to have her remanded in prison custody because she has a six-month-old baby.
He said the case has been assigned to FCT High Court No. 32 Jabi, Abuja, for trial by the Chief Judge of FCT.
Maryam was charged with culpable homicide punishable under Section 224 of the Penal Code.
He said, “It should also be noted that this present charge is as a result of preliminary findings; at the end of investigation, additional findings will determine whether the current charge will be amended or whether other persons will be charged along with the suspect.
“To assist the Police with their ongoing investigation, some persons have been invited for questioning on the matter.”

It was gathered that the security guards arrested by the Police for interrogation have been released.
Reports said the guards were let go after telling the police what they knew about the incident.
The guards were also said to have agreed to serve as prosecution witnesses against Maryam.
